Employ Health physio, Trent Seth, to attend National Leadership Forum

Each year, prospective leaders of the future are nominated by local community leaders to attend a four day National Student Leadership Forum (NSLF) with Members and Senators of the Australian Federal Parliament. Together, they openly discuss who they are, how their values shape them and how these can positively impact the community. This year, one of our elite performers, Trent Seth, has been nominated and will attend the NSLF in Canberra.

Trent’s nomination is well justified.  He shows exceptional leadership qualities in his current practise and shows enthusiasm to living and enacting his values. He believes he can positively impact the community with his vision to alter the current reactive nature of our health systems and individuals. With Trent’s unique blend of teaching and physiotherapy degrees, he feels strongly about  how appropriate education about health related areas plays a pivotal role in altering this paradigm to a more proactive approach.

However, this vision will require a change in society’s culture to where there is a social expectation that people take greater ownership of their health. As this is likely a generational change, it will be a marathon journey, but Trent feels it’s a worthwhile one that is ideally started where people spend a majority of their day, at work.

One of Trent’s most valued quotes from Lao Tzu states ‘As for the best leaders, the people do not notice their existence…When the best leader’s work is done, the people say, “We did it ourselves!”. This quote encapsulates the importance of not just telling people the how or why of a process, but to facilitate and empower them to take ownership in achieving their goal.

The NSLF places great importance on maintaining strong relationships and developing strategies for a person to draw upon their values to keep visions alive when faced with adversities and disappointments. We hope that the concepts and strategies gathered from the NSLF will assist Trent with enacting his & Employ Health’s values of being marathon runners, champions of health, elite performers and game changers whilst striving for the greater vision.
