Using Technology to Transform Onsite Health Programs

Employ Health Director, Matthew Stewart, was interviewed recently by Physitrack about how Employ Health utilises the latest technologies available to achieve better outcomes from our onsite programs.

Physitrack is a revolutionary new exercise prescription software that allows Employ Health’s physiotherapists to send exercise programs to a workers’ smartphone.  The worker then has access to videos of the exercises, can record their adherence, pain levels or even complete outcome measures about their symptoms. It is a giant leap for Employ Health’s physios to be able to follow up and monitor patients well beyond the treatment room.

As Matthew puts in the interview, “Physitrack helps us to empower our staff and patients. Everyone knows that one of the biggest barriers to patient empowerment and recovery is what they do when they leave your office. Physitrack closes that gap in a way that does not involve complicated software or stick diagrams. Our staff love Physitrack because it bridges the gap between the treatment room and home. Patients love Physitrack because it is easy to use and puts them back in control of their recovery.”

Physitrack works in conjunction with Cliniko, which Employ Health uses to manage appointment bookings. Cliniko has significantly reduced the time that our clients have to spend organising workers for their physio appointments. Being a completely online system, both the physio and the employers contact person can see appointment changes in real time, and workers are notified and reminded about their appointment by email and SMS.  This means fewer no shows – saving time and money.

Employ Health also utilises an innovative patient data management system. Developed initially for elite sporting organisations like the Australian Institute of Sport and adapted for use in workplace by Employ Health, this system gives us an unparalleled ability to capture and gain insights from data, which can be used to guide health and safety decisions.

Paper notes, stick drawings for exercises and endless chasing up of patient to make sure they attend their appointments are a thing of the past. Employ Health provide proactive workplace health programs for the workplace of the future, and we are using the latest technology solutions to make a reality.
